And remember the whole concept of conversion, because sometimes your infrastructure shifts. And finally, the integrity check is huge. Just because the backup ran successfully last night doesn't mean the data is actually readable or that the source media wasn't failing the whole time. You must build in regular verification processes that actually try to read the data to prove it's not corrupted, checking for bits that might just be starting to flake out.
