When I work with backup software and manage disk image backups, one challenge that always seems to arise is how to optimize the use of external disk space. The concept of snapshot technology comes into play as well. Certain backup solutions use snapshots to capture the state of a system at a particular moment. Snapshots are lightweight, taking up minimal space initially until changes are made to the actual data.
