I remember thinking about how scary it is to lose everything, and the sheer amount of testing that needs to happen to prove that a recovery works perfectly, even if it's years down the line. That's why the verification features are so vital, because you just can't trust a backup until you've proven the integrity of the stored data and run those re-verification routines.
