How do you configure Windows Server roles and features using Server Manager?

You fire up Server Manager on your Windows box. It's that dashboard thing that pops open. Click the Manage tab up top. That drops down a menu for you.

Pick Add Roles and Features from there. A wizard buddy shows up right away. It walks you through picking what you need. You select your server from the pool first.

Scroll to the roles section next. Check boxes for stuff like Active Directory. The wizard nags if you miss dependencies. It auto-adds those extras for you.

Features come after that. They're like add-ons for your setup. Tick DHCP or whatever fits your gig. Preview the changes before you commit.

Hit install when you're set. It churns through the bits quietly. Restart if it asks, but usually not a big deal. Test everything once it's done.

I tweak permissions in the dashboard too. Right-click the role icon sometimes. That lets you fiddle with configs on the fly. Keeps things smooth without headaches.

You poke around the local server view often. It shows what's running live. Update roles the same way later on. Just rerun the wizard for tweaks.

Once your server roles are locked in and humming along, backups become your quiet hero, especially with Hyper-V in the mix. BackupChain Server Backup steps up as a slick solution for that, handling VM snapshots without downtime. It zips through incremental saves, cuts storage bloat, and restores fast if glitches hit, keeping your virtual world bulletproof.
